Job Description

About Target

Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. We bring that vision to life through our

values, culture, and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

About the Team

The Marketing Analytics and Insights team enables Target’s marketing organization to make faster, smarter, and

more scalable decisions through data, measurement, reporting, and advanced analytics.

The team partners closely with marketing leaders, business stakeholders, data product teams, product owners,

data scientists, engineers, and technology partners. We translate complex marketing data into actionable insights

that improve media effectiveness, optimize marketing investments, strengthen guest engagement, and drive

profitable business growth.

About the Role

As a Lead Data Analyst within the Marketing Media Measurement Analytics team, you will serve as a strategic

analytics partner to Target’s marketing organization. You will lead complex analytical workstreams that measure

marketing performance, evaluate media effectiveness, optimize marketing investments, and identify opportunities to

improve business outcomes.

You will independently translate ambiguous business questions into structured measurement frameworks and

scalable analytical solutions. Your work will span campaign and channel performance, marketing investment

effectiveness, audience and guest behavior, experimentation, forecasting, and advanced measurement

methodologies.

You will combine strong analytical rigor, marketing acumen, technical expertise, and executive-level storytelling to

influence marketing strategies and investment decisions. You will also partner with data product, engineering, data

science, and technology teams to build sustainable data capabilities, standardized metrics, and reusable analytical

solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to move between strategic problem-solving, detailed

analysis, stakeholder consultation, technical solution design, and communication with senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Measurement and Business Insights

  • Serve as a strategic analytics partner to marketing leaders, helping define measurement priorities, analytical

roadmaps, and decision-support capabilities.

  • Measure and evaluate marketing performance across campaigns, media channels, audiences, guest segments,

  • Develop analytical frameworks that connect marketing investments and guest engagement to downstream

outcomes such as conversion, sales, profitability, and incremental business impact.

  • Evaluate media and campaign effectiveness using relevant performance, efficiency, and return metrics.
  • Identify key performance drivers, emerging trends, investment opportunities, and areas of marketing

inefficiency.

  • Partner with stakeholders to design robust marketing tests, define success metrics, evaluate test results, and

translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Assess the quality, reliability, and limitations of analytical outputs, including assumptions, data constraints,

statistical significance, and potential sources of bias.

  • Move beyond reporting what happened to explain why performance changed, what actions should be taken,

and what outcomes can reasonably be expected.

Data, Reporting, and Analytical Solutions

  • Query, manipulate, model, and analyze large-scale structured and unstructured datasets using SQL, Python, R,

Spark, BigQuery, Hive, or similar technologies.

logic, data lineage, and solution design.

Stakeholder Leadership and Communication

  • Build trusted relationships with marketing leaders, business partners, product teams, engineering teams, and

analytical stakeholders.

  • Understand stakeholder priorities and roadmaps, validate analytical requirements, and align analytical work with

measurable business outcomes.

  • Synthesize complex analysis into clear, executive-ready narratives that communicate the business implication,

recommended action, and expected impact.

  • Present findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including

senior leadership.

  • Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority and drive alignment across teams with different

priorities, methodologies, and technical perspectives.

  • Manage multiple analytical priorities, navigate ambiguity, and maintain strong ownership of timelines, quality,

and business impact.

Analytics Innovation and AI Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to apply advanced analytics, Generative AI, AI agents, and agentic AI capabilities to

marketing measurement and analytical workflows.

  • Translate business problems into scalable AI-enabled solutions that improve analytical productivity, insight

generation, forecasting, decision support, or automation.
