Make meaningful contributions that fuel critical outcomes for some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects. Join GDIT as a Lead Damage Control SME for a career where your growth is just as important as the mission you support.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Lead Damage Control SME, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific Fleet mission. You will play a crucial role in strengthening shipboard survivability by improving damage control readiness, elevating Sailor proficiency, and ensuring fleet units are capable of rapidly responding to fire, flooding, and casualty situations.
● Lead/Manage/Support teams of DC subject matter experts in conducting shipboard damage control assessments, evaluating material readiness, and improving crew response capabilities through targeted training and procedural reinforcement. Support fleet leadership by identifying deficiencies, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring ships maintain safe and effective survivability standards.
● Collaborate with shipboard DC divisions, engineering departments, training teams, and ISIC/TYCOM staff to coordinate assessment schedules, integrate damage control improvements, and align survivability priorities with fleet directives. Engage directly with Damage Controlmen, supervisors, and ship leadership to promote effective practices and consistent fleet‑wide compliance.
● Drive enhancements in shipboard survivability by using decades of experience to analyze casualty response trends, identify root causes of DC deficiencies, and guide ships toward more effective readiness solutions. Lead innovation in assessment methodology, training techniques, and procedural adherence to help crews overcome complex damage control challenges.
● Utilize advanced knowledge of Navy damage control systems, material readiness requirements, casualty response procedures, and modern survivability technologies — reinforced by recent hands‑on fleet experience — to conduct high‑fidelity assessments and deliver authoritative recommendations. Apply extensive supervisory and technical management experience to mentor teams and maintain high standards of evaluation accuracy.
