Job Category: Restaurant - Food ServiceCharlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) is seeking a dependable and experienced Lead Cook to support daily dietary operations and meal service. This position serves as a working lead within the Dietary Department, assisting with food preparation, meal service, kitchen operations, and staff support while helping ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality food service. The Lead Cook works closely with the AVP of Community Services and dietary staff to maintain food quality, sanitation standards, and continuity of operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established menus and dietary requirements.
- Assist with inventory control, stock rotations, and monitoring of food and meal service supplies.
- Support ordering and supply management as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Provide day-to-day operational guidance and support during assigned shifts.
- Assist with training staff on food preparation, portion control, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Coordinate daily workflow to help ensure efficient meal service and kitchen operations.
- Assist with meal delivery and supply pickup using agency vehicles as needed.
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities and help maintain continuity of food service during emergencies.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of food preparation and cooking experience in a commercial, healthcare, institutional, or similar food service environment preferred.
- Food Handler/Food Service Certification required within six (6) months of employment.
- Valid Florida driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide operational leadership during assigned shifts.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
