About the opportunity:
The Lead Cook will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods: to include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. May assist with the supervision of kitchen personnel. Serves as a lead cook guiding and assisting in the training of less experienced cooks. Assists in creating menus and placing and receiving vendor orders. The general responsibilities of the position are included in the essential job functions listed below.
What you will do:

  1. Prepare food appropriately according to patient requirements and cafe recipes. Use appropriate serving sizes when serving in the cafe and for patients. Produces small to large batch goods using advanced and full range of classical cooking techniques.
  2. Maintain high level of sanitation in all practices as stated in federal, state, and local health department manuals, may clean and sanitize work stations and equipment to be compliant to regulatory rules and procedures.
  3. Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and tasting of food products.
  4. Assist the manager in placing food orders and may receive inventory. Rotates, labels, and dates all stock.
  5. Appropriately completes required HACCP documents. Records temperature of refrigerators and freezers each shift.
  6. May have oversight over the production staff and assign tasks. May use production software to enter pre- and post­ production data. May take inventory and /or enter inventory into the production software system.
  7. Attend all staff meetings and in-services. If a meeting is missed, follow up with department leadership to review the material and complete any required quizzes.
  8. Work as a team with other nutrition services staff to ensure all patient and staff needs are met and all work is complete. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  9. Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:

  • Four or more years of related work experience. A hospital setting cook experience preferred.
  • Applies some advanced cooking skills.
  • Extensive working knowledge of food preparation.

License(s) & Certification(s):

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay: $20.67$24.25 USD
