If you are a Control/Electronics professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Suzhou location, you will be the key person for leading electronics/VFD products develop/qualification for Asia Engineering team, including system controllers and variable frequency drives. Provide hardware design expertise as well as design reviews for internal hardware engineers or ODM suppliers.

AS A LEAD CONTROL ENGINEER, YOU WILL:

  • Developing product specifications, test specifications, reliability plans, project schedules & performance, cost references

  • Review and evaluate the design and testing results to ensure delivery of product with high quality

  • Make decisions or recommendations regarding product designs and validation strategies

  • Coordinate engineering activities with the Internal and external teams to execute the development and launch of new controller/VFD products

  • Perform competitive product analysis and assist in ODM supplier selection

  • Review and interpret agency standards to ensure product compliance. Work with UL (Underwriter Laboratory) /TUV/VDE agencies to obtain approval.

  • Customized hardware solutions to OEMs

  • EMC issue troubleshooting and improvement

  • Customer field return products analysis

  • Proactively involved in the schematic design, PCB layout and FMEA etc., resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Conduct design calculation to meet the requirements of functionality, power stress ratio, worst case analysis and other analysis

  • Work out all requested hardware design or qualification documentation

  • Design for EMC, manufacturing, and testing

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a learning culture to ensure our future success

  • Secure intellectual property by ensuring patent disclosures is filed

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years working experience, or Master with 8+ years working experience, major in Electrical or Electronics/ Power Electronics or related major.

  • Technical depth and credibility in the areas of electronics products with embedded micro-controllers and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques. Working in HVAC industry is a plus

  • Experience in PCB design with EDA software, such as Cadence, PSpice etc.

  • Good understanding of IEC/UL 61800 and IEC/UL 60335/60730 standards.

  • Strong cross functional project management capability and problem-solving skills in a global environment

  • Good communication skills and presentation skills

  • Good oral and written English communication skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • 5+ years’ experience in electronics/power electronics new product development, experience with HVAC-R application is preferred.

  • Solid experience on general purpose inverter design with various topology and power circuit thermal management
