Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Lead Configuration Engineer for its hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program (CHGB). The CHGB is the Army’s #1 priority for strategic weapons capability for long-range precision fires and will counter and gain a lead on our adversaries' technological advances in this field, come join us in this exciting, cutting-edge field.

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Serve as an Engineering Lead with duties that span support of:
    • Hardware and software
    • Test equipment
    • Support engineering and manufacturing activities
    • Working with subcontractors and suppliers on various aspects of the program
  • Responsible for managing the current and future technical configurations of the HGB to include:
    • Coordination with the program design agent
    • Managing inputs into technical data packages
    • Ensure efficient transitions from design to production
    • Coordinating test objectives and appropriate hardware allocation
    • Understanding and developing configurations to meet dynamic requirements
    • Working with manufacturing to develop plans to meet the changing needs of our customers

Basic Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school with minimum 8 years of experience.
  • 5 or more years’ engineering technical leadership experience
  • Individual must be a self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven significant experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems
  • Strong technical background in large integrated products.
  • Strong background working directly with customer and suppliers to define and track engineering requirements
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications.

  • 5 or more years’ experience in systems engineering in aerospace or defense programs
  • Prior work in DoD Missile, Reentry Vehicle, or Hypersonics fields.
  • Prior work with defining test plans and hardware configurations to meet requirements intent
  • Prior work in a production environment with experience providing engineering support
  • Experience with MIL-STD-31000 product level TDP requirements
  • Experience working rapidly changing development programs, with TRL Levels 3 - 7

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
