JOB PURPOSE

•To enhance the relationship and cooperate image of the Company and Contractors/Service Providers working in Main Development Project with landlord families, interest groups, youth associations, NGOs, CBOs and governmental authorities.
JOB DIMENSIONS

•Job holder to carry out resolution of conflicts and community relations duties within the Main Development Project Host Communities, stakeholders and interest groups.

•Assist the Manager, Community Affairs Ima to manage community issues within OML112.

•Maintain contact with host communities, Groups. Traditional Rulers, Youths organization and NGOs to prevent blockades and demonstration that could lead to loss of revenue.

•Propagate and execute company’s sustainability culture in the communities.

•Negotiate and formulate effective working relationship with various stakeholders to ease mobilisation of contracting and servicing companies.

•To attend Negotiations and meetings with host communities, families, and interest groups.

•To represent and defend the company in petition against community relations activities lying with Government or traditional institutions.

•Job holders to organize and coordinate the activities of community contractors coming to work in the Main Development Project on the whole to elicit voluntary acceptance and cooperation from the landlords on one hand, and various stakeholders on the hand towards peaceful operations.

MANAGEMENT

•Deputies for the Manager, Community Affairs Ima.

•Manage the Ima Main Development Project Community Relation Operational Activities in line with the Company HSE policy.

•Follow up implementation of Community Development and Management strategy with management JV-On shore and CAPD department PHC.

•Ensure better team coordination and improve on relevant reporting (Weekly, Monthly) with hierarchy.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

•Constructive engagements with host communities to reduce conflicts by harmonizing community values and aspirations with the company goals and policies to promote trust and cordial relationship with the communities.

•Maintain regular contacts with various stakeholders' groups such as opinion leaders, youth organization, chiefs, head of families and family representatives and CBO's in the community.

•Insure quality and fair communication with all communities including vulnerable and grassroots communities.

•Define mapping of stakeholders and engagement plan accordingly.

•Develop appropriate communication tools to engage and inform local community fairly and transparently.

•Report and keep proper records of minutes of meeting with communities, government contacts and non-governmental organizations.

•Develop an aligned the communication strategy with Community Affairs, Projects and Development Department (CAPD) PHC.
MANAGEMENT OF NEGATIVE OPERATIONAL IMPACT

•Analyze and anticipate community threat on operations and operational risks on the community.

•Create an enabling peaceful environment for smooth operation that translate to higher productivity as against conflict relationship that cause sabotage, stoppage of work, destruction of company properties. wastages and loss of revenue.

•Manage concerns and grievances between individuals or communities and the company in relation to our operation.

•Update and follow up the grievance management system through the grievance management mechanism

•Develop an aligned grievance strategy with Community Affairs, Projects and Development Department (CAPD) PHC.
OPTIMISATION OF COMPANY'S PRESENCE WITH COMMUNITIES

•Identify community felt needs and make appropriate recommendation to management.

•Develop and Manage fair, transparent and appropriate community development projects in line with company principles, sustainable development goals and Company's community development strategy and objectives.

•Change the mindset of Community Stakeholders and start orientating them on SME creation to direct them to another source of sustainable income besides of Oil and Gas related activities.

•Monitor appropriately the Community Development Budget, enforcing Conflict of Interest and anti-bribery policy.

•Organize, facilitate and attend negotiation and meetings with communities, producing families and stakeholders.

•Manage and optimize local content by empowering community contractors for our operations and local job opportunities if possible.

•Participate in the Community Contractor Score Card evaluating performance of local contractors validated by Manager, Community Affairs Ima

•Review and award assistance contracts to community contractors on management approvals.

•Review and evaluate job proposals arising from the community and advice management base on discussion and meetings held with individuals.

•Ensure smooth operation of servicing and contracting companies in Ima without community disturbances.

Qualifications

•Minimum of B.Sc. in Engineering, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, etc. with competence driven leadership
Professional Experience (number of years):

•7+ years industry experience, 3-4 years in Community Relations is an added advantage

•The holder must have sound written and communication skills, must possess cordial interpersonal and group relationship skills and must have ability to manage people with diverse opinions, social & cultural background.•Should be fluent in English language, firm, assertive and of high integrity/probity when dealing with the community members & other stakeholders.

•Must possess excellent persuasive skills, with the ability to be calm under pressure as may be required when dealing with sensitive or controversial subjects.

•Negotiation & crisis management skills is an advantage

•Experience of contract, cost and planning administration/control (number of years): 2 years
