At McIntosh Trail Community Service Board, we offer individuals experiencing symptoms associated with mental illness, addictive disease and/or developmental disability the hope for optimal functioning and recovery by providing quality behavioral health services and supports.

Summary

Supervises, guides, and /or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff, Assists with daily living activities at the person's home, in a daytime non-residential facility or a residential facility. Observes and monitors client's behavior and charts observations and incidents. Provides training of basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills to consumers/ students in a state school, hospital, juvenile detention facility, residence, group home, workshop, or supported employment environment. May assist with meal preparation, ensuring or encouraging client group activity, providing transportation, and/or limited case management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing care to adults with developmental disabilities.
• Direct care includes but not limited to personal hygiene/grooming needs, supervision of staff, administration of medication, planning and preparing nutritious meals/snacks, planning recreational/leisure activities, and transporting to and from doctor's appointments/activities as needed and light housekeeping.
• Monthly monitoring of duties, computer assessments, scheduling of the home and being the back-up on the schedule. Must be able to drive to out of town appointments.
• Must be able to transfer physician orders and have leadership abilities.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR One year of experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting OR One year of experience at the lower-level Client Support Worker 1 (SSS010) or position equivalent.
• Note: Some positions require a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands may include

• Ability to lift and transfer individuals in a safe manner. This includes proper positioning and assisting with ambulation. (manually and /or utilizing a Hoyer lift.)
• Loading and unloading individuals in a wheelchair van. Pushing individuals in wheelchairs at the center or in the community
• Sitting, standing and/or walking, pushing/pulling, handling, reaching, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting,
• climbing (ladders or stairs), overhead reaching.
