Job Description

Leidos is in search of a Lead Civil Site Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with professionals across various engineering disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing civil infrastructure for high-voltage utility projects for Leidos’ clients. This position will be part of our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to developers, construction contractors and electric utilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead design reviews across: Site layout, grading & drainage design, Stormwater modeling & design, Erosion & sediment control design, Access road design, Utility coordination & design, Retaining wall layout & design
  • Drive quality assurance for civil components of substation projects, ensuring designs meet safety and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with other technical disciplines for complex multidisciplinary projects.Oversee bid and construction package development, maintaining alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Act as lead engineer on client projects, providing technical oversight and ensuring deliverables exceed expectations.
  • Represent Leidos in client-facing engagements such as kick-off meetings, lunch-and-learns, and industry events.
  • Conduct site visits to projects including new developments, substation facilities, transmission lines, and more, applying field insights to strengthen design and execution.
  • Champion quality control and safe work practices, embedding compliance and reliability into every project.
  • As an experienced engineer, you can also expect to take part in coaching, guiding and reviewing work of less experienced team members, fostering technical growth and a collaborative team culture

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 8 years of directly applicable civil-site design experience
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Proven Experience as an engineer of record or lead engineer on projects performing QC reviews
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software (preferred) and/or MicroStation OpenSite Designer software.
  • Experience with Hydraflow and various other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling & design programs
  • Ability to execute projects and handle client interaction successfully with limited supervision
  • Experience with high-voltage substation projects is highly preferred
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and other general software tools
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading and collaborating with Construction Contractors and material procurement teams on Design-Build or Engineer-Procure-Construction style Contracts on substation, renewable, and/or energy storage system projects.
  • Previous Experience in a leadership position
  • Team player with ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
  • Willing to travel, up to 10-20%

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
