Job Description

Set Bio BD priorities and strategies according to the company growth strategy, and execute BD&L deals both licensing-in and out by professionally managing external partners and internal processes

Major Accountabilities

  • Create 5 years strategy of Japan Bio BD and roadmap
  • Set Bio BD priorities and strategies according to the company growth strategy, and execute BD&L deals both licensing-in and out by professionally managing external partners and internal processes: Partner identification, Business case creation, Deal negotiation, Contract drafting, internal approval
  • Internal and external Bio BD stakeholders’ management
  • Japan local Bio BD due diligence facilitation
  • Support Bio Product Launch after deal sign
  • Explore new opportunities for Japan Bio BD
  • Listen to the market / competitions / financial communities, and share key findings with management team members

Key Performance Indicators

  • 5 years strategy of Japan Bio BD and roadmap
  • Revenues generated by BD&L deals
  • No. of Bio DB deal
  • No. of new potential partners (New CDAs)
  • Quality / timely execution of Bio deal
  • Insights to management

Education:

Minimum B.A. in the biomedical field. MBA in Marketing or equivalent Master’s Degree in related field, i.e. Pharmaceutical Management is better.

Experience/Capabilitiy:

  • Minimum 5 years of Business development experience in Health care industry or M&A consultant company.
  • Proven ability to efficiently lead multiple projects in a matrixed environment with high degree of independence
  • Fluency in English and Japanese is required
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to find solutions in a resource constrained environment
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate ideas and lead others to accomplish challenging goals and objectives
