The Lead Business Intelligence Engineer serves as the primary link between Loenbro's data platform and business stakeholders, transforming complex operational and financial data into actionable insights. This role designs and delivers enterprise reporting solutions, drives data governance and adoption, and partners with leaders across the organization to support informed decision-making.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models that support operational, financial, and executive leadership needs.
  • Partner with business leaders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate business objectives into scalable reporting solutions.
  • Validate data accuracy and collaborate with Analytics Engineering to ensure reporting integrity and consistency across the organization.
  • Establish reporting standards, governance practices, security controls, and documentation that support a single source of truth.
  • Drive adoption of business intelligence solutions through stakeholder engagement, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support strategic decision-making by delivering clear, actionable insights from complex data sets.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to team members through knowledge sharing, code and report reviews, problem-solving support, and development of BI best practices.
  • Leverage AI and automation tools (e.g., Copilot for Power BI, AI-driven DAX/M optimization, natural language query features) to accelerate report development, surface deeper insights, and reduce manual reporting effort.
  • Design and maintain AI-ready data models and semantic layers that enable accurate, trustworthy AI-generated insights and support the organization's broader AI/analytics maturity.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data visualization, or corporate reporting environments, with at least a year of experience in a lead role.
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI, DAX, and SQL, including dashboard development and data validation.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements into reporting and analytics solutions.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting construction, industrial, project-based, or field service organizations.
  • Knowledge of project finance, job costing, budgeting, or operational performance reporting.
  • Microsoft DP-600 or DP-700 certification or other relevant business intelligence certifications.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Python, R.
