Job Description

Oversees the daily shift operations of the coffee shop, ensuring consistency in quality, service, and cleanliness. This position serves as a peer leader, supporting, training, and mentoring fellow baristas to uphold established standards. In the absence of the Supervisor, this position is responsible for coordinating shift operations, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation protocols.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:45 am - 3:15 pm

Job Responsibilities:

  • In the absence of management, assume a leadership role responsible for completing all required daily tasks (e.g., schedule alterations, product orders, cleaning assignments, opening or closing procedures).
  • Ensure deliveries are accepted and stored according to departmental requirements.
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items.
  • Supervise cleanliness throughout the work area and maintain and update accurate records.
  • Understand and use relevant food services procedures and processes, to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Train and guide team members around complex activities within their own area and address any escalations/ deviations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field (e.g., Hospitality management).

Minimum Experience:

  • High school diploma/ GED with 4+ years OR Bachelor's degree with some relevant experience.
  • Strong experience in a direct hospital environment, with food services preferred.
  • Strong experience in hospitality service environment monitoring and managing activities related to own area (e.g., Food preparation, Cash management, Coffee/Beverage preparation).
  • Strong understanding of safety and sanitary requirements of a food service operation.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • Certified Food Protection Manager Certificate through an approved ANSI program within 30 days of employment.
  • Certified Starbucks Barista with a Barista Trainer Certification.
  • Coffee academy program completion within 6 months.

  • Good knowledge of standards, guidelines, and regulations pertaining to the food services.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $19.50 - $33.00 per hour for the role of Lead-Barista.
