At GE Vernova, our Power Conversion division delivers integrated electrical systems — spanning medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) drives, motors, transformers, switchgear, and control systems — across renewables, marine, oil and gas, and industrial markets.

As an Automation Controls Engineer, you'll develop system solutions in function block programming for metals and industrial applications, following your work from design through deployment and into the field. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers, grow your technical toolkit, and contribute to projects with real, lasting impact on how industries manage and consume energy.

Power Conversion and Storage business works closely with end users in energy-intense industrial applications. We focus on offering integrated electrical systems. A strategy aligned to three major macro trends: Power Stability, Energy Storage and Industrial Electrification.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and deployprogrammable logic controller (PLC) programs in collaboration with senior engineers, ensuring reliable automation and control of machinery across industrial settings.

  • Design human-machine interface (HMI) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systemsthat empower operators to monitor and manage industrial processes efficiently.

  • Contribute to hardware design and development, including sensors, actuators, and control systems, in alignment with global industry standards.

  • Test and debugPLC programs and hardware systems, identifying and resolving issues to meet quality standards and project timelines.

  • Create and maintain documentationof PLC programs, hardware designs, and system configurations to support knowledge transfer and project continuity.

  • Support project execution end-to-end— from design through installation, commissioning, and post-implementation — working closely with cross-functional teams throughout.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or a related field or a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in automation and controls engineering

Desired Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with PLC programming concepts (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagrams) and hands-on experience in HMI/SCADA development.

  • Competence in at least one programming language (e.g., ladder logic, function block, ) is preferred.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
