Reporting to the Sr. Supervisor, Cash Application, the Lead Analyst, OTC Cash Application is responsible for supporting and overseeing daily cash application activities to ensure customer payments are applied accurately and timely. This role serves as a subject matter expert for cash application processes and provides day-to-day guidance to team members while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the OTC organization.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of Accounts Receivable, cash application processes, customer payment tendering methods, account reconciliations, and the relationship between the AR subledger and General Ledger. The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills in a shared services environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Cash Application Operations
    • Support and oversee daily cash application activities, ensuring customer payments are processed accurately and timely
    • Review and process payments received through ACH, EFT, wire transfers, lockbox, and other payment channels
    • Research and resolve unapplied cash, payment discrepancies, short pays, overpayments, and unidentified receipts
    • Partner with customers, branches, Credit, Customer Service, Treasury, and Accounting teams to resolve payment application issues
    • Support month-end close activities, including cash-related reconciliations and reporting requirements
    • Monitor work queues and service levels to ensure operational objectives are achieved
  • Process Improvement & Controls
    • Champion process improvement initiatives through automation, standardization, and simplification
    • Support implementation and continuous improvement of Cash Application policies, procedures, and controls
    • Review operational KPIs and metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service
    • Maintain and review SOPs, process documentation, and training materials
    • Participate in testing and implementation of system enhancements and process improvements
  • Leadership & Team Support
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for Cash Application processes and systems
    • Provide onboarding, training, coaching, and ongoing support to team members and contractors
    • Assist the Sr. Supervisor with workload prioritization, escalations, internal and external audits, and day-to-day operational support
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement

What You'll Bring:

  • Required
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
    • 3-5 years of Accounting Experience or Cash Application
    • Strong understanding of customer payment application, account reconciliations, and cash controls
    • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
    • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Preferred
    • Experience in a shared services environment
    • Experience with automation and process improvement initiatives
    • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
    • Experience with cash application technologies and remittance automation solutions
