Assist physicians in the physiological monitoring of patients and the preparation of drugs, fluids, anesthetic and equipment ancillary to operative intervention of other procedures requiring anesthesia; set up, operate and maintain monitoring and anesthesia equipment. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned
General Functions:
Anticipates and prepares operating room with appropriate anesthesia equipment/supplies for procedures/cases including set up and calibration of monitoring devices
Assists Anesthesiologist and healthcare team with patient care and transportation
Cleans, repairs, and performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning
Order, maintains and catalogues anesthesia supplies and equipment
Participates in new product and equipment evaluations
Supervises and manages the activities of Anesthesia Technician personnel
Provides input for, or completes annual staff performance evaluations
Serves as a role model for service excellence and commits to Studer Principles and “must haves”
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
Maintains safe environment
Addresses patient population-specific needs
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 1 year in the anesthesia technician role in acute care or ambulatory surgery environment
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 2 years experience as an anesthesia technician
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE Anesthesia Technician
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
