Job Description

Department: Product & Customer

Based in: Brighton HQ

Working arrangement: Full time, permanent, hybrid

About MPB.

MPB is the world's largest platform for used photo and video kit. We make buying, selling and trading cameras and lenses simple, sustainable and trustworthy, and we're still growing across the UK, US and Europe.

Help us build MPB’s AI Automation Hub

At MPB, teams across the business are already using AI to work smarter. Now we’re building a dedicated AI Automation Hub to turn that energy into production-grade, agentic automation that makes a real difference to how we work.

The Hub is a new, purpose-built team with its own mandate and backlog. Its job is to identify and deliver high-value internal AI use cases, and to act as a centre of excellence for emerging technology, working closely with colleagues across every function. Where we learn something new, we’ll share it widely.

Three roles, one team

The Hub is built around three lead roles that work in lockstep, each part of its own specialist function:

  • Lead AI Product Manager: owns the backlog, prioritisation and lifecycle of Hub work, making sure we focus on the use cases that matter most
  • Lead AI Automation Engineer: designs and ships agentic AI in production, covering LLM orchestration, agent frameworks and robust pipelines, aligned with MPB’s agentic reference architecture
  • Lead Decision & AI Scientist: validates opportunities with data, builds and optimises agentic models and data products, and ensures AI capabilities are properly evaluated before they reach production

Together, you’ll take ideas from first concept to trusted, production-ready tools, with humans kept firmly in the loop.

This role.

This hub is small, autonomous and deliberately lead-less. And it needs someone to give it direction.

As our Lead AI Product Manager, you'll turn "what could AI do for us?" into a clear, sequenced programme of work that delivers real value for the business and our customers. You'll own the hub's backlog and its rhythm of delivery, frame every experiment with a sharp hypothesis, and work with our Decision & AI Scientist to define what good looks like, including when an Eval is needed. Alongside our Lead AI Automation Engineer, you'll steward ideas from first prototype through to production.

You'll also be the go-to person for teams across MPB who want to use AI in their own function, coaching them through our Innovation Framework to find, scope and test the right use cases responsibly.

And you'll be honest about what you find. On every bet, you'll recommend whether to kill it, double down or hand it off, and you'll say so clearly to senior stakeholders. Show, don't tell: working prototypes, evaluated demos and clear data are how you bring people with you.

What you will bring.

  • Hands-on product management experience, with real depth in AI and/or data-driven products
  • A practical grasp of LLMs, agentic patterns, RAG and automation tools like n8n or Zapier, enough to challenge and partner with engineers and data scientists
  • Experience running AI Evals, or similar quality frameworks, for non-deterministic systems
  • A hypothesis-driven mindset: you scope tightly and evaluate honestly
  • Confidence with Jira, Figma and FigJam, and generative prototyping tools such as Figma Make or Lovable
  • Trusted-advisor communication, from exec rooms to functional teams, and comfort working in a self-directed squad without a traditional lead

Nice to have:

  • Experience in marketplace, e-commerce or circular commerce
  • Time spent in or alongside a Centre of Excellence or internal innovation team
  • Exposure to conversational UI design and evaluation

Why MPB.

Build something new. The AI Automation hub is a genuine chance to shape how a category leader uses AI, with real ownership rather than a slide deck.

Make an impact on a circular business. Everything we do helps kit get a longer life, which is good for people and good for the planet.

Work with people who say what they think. We value honesty, ownership and creativity over hierarchy, and we're growing across three markets.
