What's the role?
We are seeking an experienced Lead Agentic AI Developer to design, build, and deliver intelligent agent solutions for an innovative AI-powered chat platform with a dynamic, backend-driven UI.
Working across AI, backend and frontend, you will provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on in the design, development and deployment of production-grade agentic AI solutions.
This is a permanent position based in Sydney or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and delivery of agentic AI solutions and backend services.
Architect AI agents, tool integrations, workflows, and conversational experiences.
Champion an AI-coding-assistant-first approach to development, leveraging AI tools to accelerate and enhance delivery
Build and maintain scalable Python services, APIs, and MCP integrations.
Own feature delivery from requirements through to production deployment.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Drive quality, reliability, performance, security, and observability across the platform.
Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems, data platforms, and user applications.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams.
Contribute to platform architecture, technical strategy, and continuous improvement.
Who are you?
Hands-on experience with Google Agent Development Kit (ADK), Vertex AI, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Proven experience building and deploying AI agents and LLM-powered applications.
Experience designing and implementing MCP servers, tools, and agent integrations.
Strong experience with FastAPI (or similar Python frameworks), REST APIs, and modern backend architectures.
Experience with PostgreSQL and cloud-native development on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, Git workflows, and CI/CD.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Degree qualification in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable
Experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, and semantic search.
Experience leading or mentoring engineers.
Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or agent frameworks.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
