Job Description

THE BUSINESS

Join a company that's reintroducing itself to the aviation community we've helped advance for more than a century. At Honeywell Aerospace (NASDAQ: HONA), we're launching as an independent, publicly traded aerospace and defense company built on a legacy of operational excellence and mission-focused execution.

Our new brand identity pairs that heritage with real momentum, as we build technology that helps pilots navigate with confidence, aircraft operate more efficiently, and operators stay ahead of change. With our systems on board 90% of the world's aircraft, your work here has reach that's rare to find anywhere else.

Focusing on our customers, investing in innovation, and building a culture of accountability and performance is how we're shaping what comes next.

Every horizon. Every mission. Every day.

CONTROL SYSTEMS

Honeywell Aerospace products and services are found on aircraft across commercial aviation, defense and space — from engines and cockpit electronics to cabin systems, mechanical components and connectivity solutions. Our technology helps operators fly more safely, reduce fuel consumption, improve on-time performance and deliver a better experience for the people on board.

As aviation continues to evolve, we're also developing systems to support autonomous and supersonic platforms, bringing the same focus on safety and efficiency to the next era of flight. With approximately 36,000 employees worldwide and net sales of $17.4B in 2025, Honeywell Aerospace is one of the largest dedicated aerospace companies in the world. The Control Systems Strategic Business Unit (SBU) delivers high-performance, safety-critical control solutions across aerospace and defense platforms. The portfolio includes electronic control units (ECUs), fuel and pneumatic control systems, actuation products, inertial sensing solutions, and integrated avionics controls. We serve OEMs and operators globally with trusted, high-reliability products that enable safer, more efficient aircraft and mission systems.

Rocky Mount is a key manufacturing site within Control Systems, with a focus on hydro‑mechanical fuel controls and precision assemblies. The Lead AME will drive advanced manufacturing capability, manufacturability of complex control products, and readiness for rate across new product introduction (NPI) and production.

THE POSITION

As a Lead Advanced Manufacturing Engineer here at Honeywell, you will spearhead advanced manufacturing engineering initiatives, driving innovation and operational excellence in manufacturing processes. You will lead the cell team in floor support and projects that optimize productivity, implement cutting-edge technologies, and enhance product quality to meet business objectives as part of our Electrohydraulic Servo Valve (EHSV) Cell.

You will report directly to our Director of Engineering and you’ll work out of our location on an on-site work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing operations by leading engineering teams and collaborating with cross-functional partners to implement best practices and continuous improvement strategies.

At Honeywell, our people leaders play a critical role in developing and supporting our employees to help them perform at their best and drive change across the company. Help to build a strong, diverse team by recruiting talent, identifying, and developing successors, driving retention and engagement, and fostering an inclusive culture

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee advanced manufacturing processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and productivity
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
  • Ability to cover responsibilities at a site level if needed
  • Own process capability and control for critical EHSV features (e.g., armature air gaps, nozzle alignment, laminar flow characteristics), torque motor assembly, and pivot‑seal calibration fluid processes.
  • Lead daily floor support to drive process adherence, stability, and standard work; partner with operations for robust handoffs and continuity across shifts.
  • Analyze production data (FPY, Cp/Cpk, OEE, escapes) to identify systemic issues; lead RCCA and implement corrective actions to achieve sustained yield improvement.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and APQP tools to assembly and test processes (PFMEA/DFMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC) to prevent defects and reduce variation.
  • Lead capacity improvement projects (layout, takt/cycle balance, tooling/fixturing, automation opportunities) aligned to rate readiness and safety.
  • Act as Special Process Owner for EDM machining: define process parameters/windows, qualify equipment, manage electrodes/consumables, establish acceptance criteria, own documentation and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to influence DFM/DFA, tolerances, materials, and test methods; participate in IPDS/Flawless Launch gates and PPAP/MRL progression.
  • Engage customers/programs on technical topics (process capability, test data, change control) and represent Rocky Mount in cross‑site technical forums.
  • Provide coaching and training for technicians/engineers; develop work instructions, training plans, and certification matrices.
