Lead Administrator on Duty-(260002Z3)

The Lead Administrator on Duty is responsible for overseeing hospital operations during assigned shifts, ensuring optimal patient care, staff coordination, and operational efficiency. This position serves as the primary liaison between clinical and administrative teams during off-hours and is accountable for staffing decisions, patient sitter coordination, and monitoring key performance metrics. The Lead collaborates closely with nursing leadership, department heads, and the hospital administrator on call to address emergent issues and maintain high standards of care and service delivery including but not limited to bed control and scheduling.

Essential Functions
• Direct and coordinate all hospital functions during assigned shifts to ensure seamless operations, patient safety, and continuity of care.
• Act as the primary liaison for clinical and administrative matters in the absence of Nurse Managers and senior leadership, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Monitor hospital census and acuity levels continuously, adjusting staffing assignments—including patient sitters—to maintain optimal patient care coverage.
• Develop, manage, and adjust staff schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage while adhering to labor laws, union agreements, and hospital policies.
• Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient care, staffing efficiency, and operational effectiveness; escalate concerns as needed.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure consistent implementation of bedside shift reports and hourly rounding practices to enhance patient engagement and safety.
• Lead and coordinate hospital-wide responses to emergencies or critical incidents, ensuring effective communication and resource mobilization across departments.
• Provide guidance and support to staff in resolving interpersonal conflicts, addressing patient or family concerns, and managing complex care situations.
• Uphold hospital quality and safety standards by identifying and addressing deviations from protocols and participating in audits and improvement initiatives.
• Mentor other Administrator on Duty and clinical staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and excellence in patient care delivery.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing


License/Registration

  • Registered Nurse- Issued by Florida or Compact State


Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross And
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross And
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross And
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)


Work Experience and Additional Information

  • Six (6) years of experience in Clinical Nursing with
  • Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role (Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Manager, or equivalent).
