TITLE: LAW ENFORCEMENT DETECTIVE SUPERVISOR

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located within the Office of Inspector General, Bureau of State Investigations Criminal Division (CID), Region 2.

The mission of the Office of the Inspector General at the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect and to promote public integrity and accountability within the Department through investigations, audits, and inspections. We aim to detect and prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, ensuring that the Department operates efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Ensures that all investigations carried out within the Region are initiated and managed consistent with a Strategy and Regional Strategy.
  • Ensures that investigative plans and strategies are complete and are being followed, and that changes are approved and monitored.
  • Ensures investigative resources are properly allocated and that investigations and/or special projects are progressing consistently with management expectations and resources allocated.
  • Supervises and/ or performs all duties and responsibilities of an Inspector Supervisor, i.e.., conducting searches and interviewing. Interrogating suspects or subjects.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Meet the minimum qualifications and standards as set forth in section 943.13, Florida Statute and possess an active Florida Law Enforcement Officer Certificate from CJSTC.
  • Must possess eight years of full time Law Enforcement Officer experience with four of the eight years conducting criminal investigations within a criminal justice agency or conducting investigations within an office of Inspector general.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four (4) or more years of full time paid supervisory experience in a local, county, state, or federal law enforcement agency or Inspector General’s Office.
  • Supervisory or management experience of Law Enforcement Investigative Task Forces or multi-unit law enforcement management of Federal, Police, Sheriff, or OIG divisions.
  • Extensive documented experience involving complex whistleblower investigations or comprehensive corruption/official misconduct investigations involving public officials.
  • Associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
