Job Description

Our client, a Software Development organization operating in the FinTech sector, is seeking a qualified Lawyer who will also assume the role of Data Protection Officer (DPO), acting as a key legal advisor to senior stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on commercial, corporate, IT, software, and regulatory matters

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and corporate documentation

• Advise management on agreements including employment, suppliers, NDAs, software licensing, and managed services

• Oversee and manage data protection compliance across the organisation in the capacity of DPO

• Act as the main contact for data protection authorities and data subject matters

• Support international expansion and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions

• Coordinate with external counsel and foreign legal advisors when required

Candidate Profile

• Fully qualified lawyer with 4+ years’ experience in private practice or in-house

• Strong commercial mindset and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and take ownership

• Fluency in English & Maltese required (additional EU language an asset)

Nice to have:

• Experience in payments, insurance, or ESG
