Laundry Assistant

Location: Meadowfield House, Meadowfield, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 9NX
Hours: 10.5 hours per week
Hourly Rate: £13.45per hour
Rota Pattern:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 2: Thursday and Friday
  • 09:00-12:00

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Laundry Assistant to support the smooth and efficient running of the laundry service at Meadowfield House. The successful candidate will ensure a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and garment care for residents and staff, while working both independently and as part of the wider domestic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, sort, wash, dry, iron, and neatly fold laundry items including clothing, bedding, and towels.
  • Operate laundry machinery (washers, dryers, irons) safely and efficiently.
  • Follow correct procedures for handling soiled or contaminated laundry.
  • Ensure laundry is returned to the correct residents promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room and equipment.
  • Monitor stock levels of detergents and laundry supplies and report shortages when needed.
  • Adhere to all infection control, health and safety, and organisational policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety and hygiene practices.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a laundry, cleaning, or housekeeping role.
  • Experience working in a care, or healthcare environment.
