Job Description

We are accepting applications for the following position:

LAUNDRY ATTENDANT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate machines including washers, dryers, and dry-cleaning equipment in a safe manner and in accordance with specifications.
  • Sort soiled articles in preparation for washing; follow procedures to separate them by fabric, color, cleaning technique or dirt content.
  • Inspect soiled articles to determine sources of stains and identify items requiring special treatment.
  • Tend to stained articles, through pre-soaking, spot-cleaning, sterilizing, and scrubbing by utilizing portable machines or neutralizer solutions.
  • Regulate machine processes when starting washers, dryers and dry cleaners; turn levels and valves to control volume of additives, specific cycles and temperature.
  • Sort and count articles as they are removed from dryers; hang, fold, or wrap the articles according to requirements or personal attention to detail.
  • Iron or press articles, fabrics, linens, using hand irons or pressing machines. Fold and stack clean linen according to specifications.
  • Maintain inventory of linens; use a hand or machine marker to place identifying names or code numbers on dry cleaning and laundered items. Properly identified and report losses and damages of items.
  • Provide light service to machines by lubricating equipment and cleaning or changing machine filters when needed; alert Supervisor when machines need professional repair.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment; report any accident, incident, or safety issues to the Supervisor.
  • Assist with loading and unloading in the transport of linens to and from the delivery area.
  • Perform other duties as required from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, walk for long periods of time.
  • Able to multitask and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skill with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Scheduling flexibility; able to work nights, weekends, and public holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS/KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Laundry Attendants may be exposed to a noisy, humid, and hot environment. Temperatures will vary depending on how many machines are in operation at any given time.
  • Environment contains commercial grade washers and dryers and other various laundry service equipment.
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, and lifting (up to 50lbs) required.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary

Salary USD$10.00 - USD$15 Per Hour

Incentive Pay available based on group and individual numbers. In 2025, our hourly employees were averaging over US$3.00 per hour of additional pay.
