Lathe Set Up Operator

Shift: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Salary: $26-$34 per hour, dependent on experience

We are a small, family-owned manufacturing business that values a positive and fun work environment. We are growing and looking to add a skilled Lathe Set Up Operator to our team. Our main product lines and services include Bearings, Guide Systems, Seals & Distributed Products, and Precision CNC Machining for various industries.

Lathe Set Up Operator Role:

This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes for production. This position is crucial for ensuring efficient production and maintaining quality standards.

Lathe Set Up Operator Responsibilities:

  • Set up multiple CNC lathes and run production
  • Utilize inspection equipment and check fixtures
  • Create and maintain job boxes for repeat work, including special tooling and workholding
  • Pull tooling and set up machines for new jobs based on engineering programs and tool sheets
  • Load programs and run first pieces, dialing in processes for quality approval
  • Follow established systems and processes
  • Create engineering packets at the end of a job to ensure repeatability
  • Maintain efficient production and quality standards

Lathe Set Up Operator Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to the department manager. There is potential for growth into a Cell Lead role, which includes overseeing a production cell and guiding operators.

About You:

  • Experience with CNC lathes is preferred
  • Familiarity with Mori Seiki mill/turn machines is a plus
  • Doosan background is a plus
  • Ability to utilize inspection equipment
  • Commitment to meeting quality and production standards
  • System and process-driven mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to be self-sufficient after initial training
  • Desire to learn and expand skills, potentially including programming (GibbsCAM or on-machine programming)
