The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, strategically minded Government Relations specialist with a strong background in public affairs, advocacy programs, institutional relations, and stakeholder engagement in Latin America Region. This key role requires sharp business acumen, political awareness, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with an agile, hands‑on approach to execution. The position also supports the company in ensuring full compliance and governance, making sure all engagement activities adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
How You´ll Make an Impact
Support and execute regional Political Affairs efforts in alignment with the Global Head of Government Relations, the Heads of North LATAM and South LATAM and Business Units (BUs), ensuring cohesive advocacy and engagement strategies with policymakers and regulators.
Manage strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders — including government entities, industry associations, and key institutions — by supporting local management teams and BUs across the countries where we operate in Latin America. Ensure open, effective, and consistent engagement that drives business outcomes and strengthens trust.
Regulatory and legislative monitoring and risk/opportunities analysis - Continuously track changes in laws, regulations, and public policies that may affect the energy sector, infrastructure, and the company’s operations, identifying risks and opportunities within the institutional environment and assessing their potential business impacts, while providing regular reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Technical and institutional advocacy - Represent the company in sector discussions, public consultations, hearings, industry associations, and forums, defending technical and institutional positions aligned with the business strategy.
Scenario development and strategic intelligence - Produce regional analyses, briefings, and projections on the political environment, regulatory trends, and market movements that may affect investment or operational decisions.
Institutional communication with a focus on public policy - Prepare key messages, technical position statements, documents, presentations, and reports that represent the company in a coherent and responsible manner before public authorities.
Support in regulatory compliance and governance - Ensure that all engagement activities comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies, in partnership with Legal & Ethics & Compliance.
Crisis and sensitive issues management - Support the corporate communications team in handling eventual critical matters involving government, regulators, or the media, providing institutional guidance and coordinating appropriate responses.
Institutional engagement coordination - Plan, execute and support agendas with authorities, official visits, participation in institutional events, trade fairs, forums, and official missions.
Support for strategic projects with government interface
Connect internal areas with relevant public stakeholders and processes (licenses, incentives, consultations, investments, authorizations, etc.).
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
