Job Description

Laser Operator – 1st shift

We are looking for individuals who want a home and to build a Career!

What we look for in a team member:

  • Punctuality, both with arriving on time to report for work, and in maintaining work quotas and projects.
  • Observing and reporting defective, hazardous or other such disturbances or disruptions regarding safety, machine operation and running defective parts.
  • If an activity changes or does not process correctly during operation, it MUST be reported immediately to a direct supervisor.
  • Following instructions, including, but not limited to: work instructions, policies, supervisor instructions, safety procedures or anything else outlined in the Company manual and Safety manual.

Duties and responsibilities:

Activities, duties, or routines conducted on a daily, monthly, and/or yearly basis, which are required to fulfill this position.

  • Operate laser cutting machines and various metalworking machines.
  • Select and set up operation based on material type and thickness.
  • Load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
  • Knowledge of shielded gases used during laser cutting operations.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow all rules and policies regarding safety and quality standard policies.
  • Assemble items as instructed by shift leader or floor supervisor.
  • Lift raw materials, final products and items packed for shipment using hoist or manual.
  • Indirect labor, cleaning, sweeping, organizing, boxing and palletizing assemblies.
  • Stacking and packing parts.
  • Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.

Qualifications include:

  • General shop safety
  • Machine safety
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Solid background working with sheet metal
  • Knowledge of tool maintenance
  • Ability to distinguish material types, including aluminum, steel and stainless steel
