Position Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe workplace by adhering to and supporting Amentum’sSafeUp® program and all US Antarctic Program (USAP) safety policies, procedures, and requirements, ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

• Operates shuttle service vehicles on varying road surfaces in inclement weather conditions with consideration for passenger safety. Vehicles include 11-14 passenger vans, Foremost Delta II with passenger compartment,Foremost56-passenger Terra Bus, and Kress/ Caterpillar 730 tractor-trailer with 59-passenger module.

• Transports passengers and flight crew members to and from the airfield ramp while obeying all airfield safety requirements.

• Performs and documentsrequiredmechanical and fluid checks of shuttle vehicles prior to and during operation.

• Completes required shuttle and taxi logs.

• Communicates via two-way radioin accordance withprescribed procedures and proper radio etiquette.

• Provides Scott Base shuttle service asrequired

• Provides transportation for Long Duration Balloon (LDB) personnel.

• Provides morning and evening shift change transportation for 109th AW personnel.

• Provides on-call taxi service.

• Monitors flight departure and return landing times, passenger transportation needs, taxi service needs, and othervarious tasking as adispatcher,dispatches tasking accordingly.

• Performs “bellhop” service upon request for both incoming and outgoing flights.

• Interacts with the NationalScienceFoundation,military, and other agency officials, both over the telephone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.

• Activelyparticipatesinsafety briefings and meetings.Performs Job HazardAnalyses, Work Center Inspections, and other safety reports,asrequired

• Provides light vehicle training for otherdepartmentsas necessary.

• Provides large passenger vehicle training internally as necessary.

• Supports otherdepartmentsas necessary.

• Must be able to interact with all team members in a positive and productive manner.

• Responsible formaintainingworkplace programsand ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

• Performs other duties asrequired

Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:

• High School diploma orGED

• A minimum of oneyear vehicle and/or equipment operating experience with at least six months of operating large capacity passenger vehicles and/or tractor-trailer over-the-road vehicles.

Expected Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Customer service experience.

• Good multi-tasking, and organizational skills, and basic computer knowledge.

Preferred:

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement.

Physical and/or Other Requirements

• Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods

• Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica

• Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer

• Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF

• Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.

• Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.

• Mustparticipatein community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safetyobjectives

• Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States

• Must be able to obtain andmaintainfacility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship isrequiredfor facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
