Location: Lani Rooftop Lounge | Powell, OH
Reports To: Restaurant Operations Manager, Hospitality & Events Manager
Schedule: Part-Time | Approximately 20–30 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and opening and closing shifts.
The Lead Host is the first impression and the final farewell of the Lani experience.
More than managing reservations or greeting guests, this role sets the tone for every service by creating an atmosphere of warmth, confidence, and genuine hospitality from the moment guests arrive. The Lead Host establishes the pace of the dining room, maintains calm during busy service, and creates meaningful first connections that reflect Lani's commitment to elevated hospitality.
Working closely with the management team, the Lead Host leads the front door, supports fellow hosts, communicates dining room flow, and helps ensure every guest feels welcomed, valued, and cared for throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities

Welcome every guest with warmth, confidence, and genuine hospitality.
- Lead the host stand by setting the standard for service, professionalism, and guest care.
- Manage reservations, waitlists, walk-ins, and seating with accuracy while balancing guest expectations and operational flow.
- Manage Service Assistants & Porters who execute based on FOH needs, and Lead Host direction.
- Coordinate seating between the dining room, rooftop, and lounge areas to maximize both the guest experience and service efficiency.
- Maintain a calm, organized presence during high-volume service while helping set the pace for the front-of-house team.
- Build meaningful first connections by recognizing celebrations, returning guests, and opportunities to personalize the experience.
- Support opening and closing responsibilities, ensuring the host stand, reservation system, menus, and guest-facing areas are prepared for service.
- Partner with managers, servers, bartenders, and support staff to communicate dining room status and maintain seamless operations.
- Professionally answer phones, manage guest inquiries, and communicate reservations, events, rooftop availability, and special experiences.
- Resolve guest concerns with empathy, confidence, and professionalism while involving management when appropriate.
- Support venue operations with designated opening and closing tasks.
- Maintain an organized, polished host stand that reflects Lani's elevated aesthetic.
- Promote special events, seasonal features, and COhatch programming when appropriate.
Qualifications

Previous hosting or front-of-house hospitality experience required; upscale, fine dining, boutique hotel, or elevated restaurant experience preferred.
- Natural ability to make guests feel genuinely welcomed.
- Must meet the minimum requirement of being 21 years of age or older.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management.
- Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and polished demeanor.
- Calm under pressure with strong situational awareness and sound decision-making.
- Experience with reservation platforms and POS systems preferred.
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
