& Purpose

The British Council is seeking a Language Learning Project Officer to provide essential coordination and logistical support to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of its English language teaching and assessment programmes. This role plays a key part in supporting high-quality learning experiences by managing operational processes, facilitating communication, and ensuring effective programme delivery.

The Language Learning Project Officer will contribute to an established and evolving English language programme that delivers both in-person and online learning to diverse audiences. The programme is designed to improve language proficiency, enhance employability, and increase access to further education opportunities. Through structured courses and high-quality teaching, learners are supported to build communication skills, confidence, and measurable progression in English.

As the programme continues to expand, the Language Learning Project Officer will coordinate outreach activities, manage learner applications, monitor participation, and track progress. The role also involves supporting adaptable learning pathways that accommodate varying proficiency levels and schedules, while helping maintain high levels of engagement and learner satisfaction.

Fluency in English is essential, alongside strong organisational and communication skills. Cultural awareness and sensitivity are highly important, enabling the Project Officer to build trust with diverse learner groups and support inclusive, accessible, and effective programme delivery.

Role Accountabilities

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality services and creating a positive experience for both students and colleagues. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of administrative and customer service functions, ensuring everything runs smoothly across both face-to-face and online teaching. You will take ownership of key processes such as student registration, attendance and re-registration, making sure targets are met while supporting excellent teaching and learning outcomes, while maintaining accurate operational and financial records and producing reports that support informed decision-making.

You will play a central role in bringing teams together, working closely with teaching, online and support colleagues to coordinate activities, share information and ensure services, programmes and events are delivered seamlessly. You will foster a collaborative and accountable environment, guiding staff and external suppliers, aligning communications with wider organisational messaging, and ensuring everyone is working towards shared priorities. Occasional weekend or evening events or troubleshooting might be required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate degree or equivalent
  • Experience in a customer focused environment.
  • Experience of coordinating resources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office programs
  • Operational Management
  • Analysing Data and Problems
  • High level of English language skills
  • Creole language skills are desirable

Important Information

  • Location: The position is based in London, UK, in a hybrid working mode.
  • Contract Type: This is a Full Time, Fixed term Contract for 12 months.The role requires flexibility to work across departments, locations and with different stakeholders. Some of responsibilities will be held at our Stratford office and some in areas like Crawley and Manchester.
  • Right to Work: The candidates must have legal right to live and work in the UK. We cannot offer relocation or visa sponsorship for this role.
  • Background Screening: all successful candidates are obliged to undergo comprehensive background screening
  • What we offer: £25,520 per annum (Plus an additional £3,300 per annum London Market Allowance if you are based in the London area only)
