Language Access Scheduler (Interpreter Scheduler)
Interviews: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it may take several weeks after the application deadline for us to schedule interviews.
Court Language Access Services (CLAS) is part of the Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA) at the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD). CLAS increases access to services and activities for court customers by eliminating language barriers. Our operations include credentialing court interpreters, identifying language needs and developing Language Access Plans, providing interpreters for court customers and case parties, translating courthouse signs, forms, and vital documents, and providing training on language access. Our work is conducted in all circuit court locations statewide, in the Tax Court, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court, and in the Citizen’s Review Board.
We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive team and encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply. We consider relevant work experience, education, and any transferable skills and abilities that may meet our qualifications or the skills and attributes we need for this position. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission.
CLAS is hiring an Interpreter Scheduler (Language Access Scheduler) to join our team. This work impacts a variety of people — both internal customers (e.g., judges and coworkers) and external customers (e.g., people coming to court with limited English proficiency, attorneys, and other governmental agencies) who benefit from the services CLAS provides. Working for CLAS means you will be part of a team that ensures our courts can equitably deliver language services to all users.
In this role, you will conduct language assessments, receive and document requests for interpreters, schedule interpreters, and maintain lists of interpreters and agencies. You will recruit prospective interpreters, negotiate pay rates, assign interpreters to circuit courts statewide, and make travel arrangements for those traveling throughout Oregon or from other states or countries. You will also reassign or cancel interpreters based on courts’ frequently changing needs. In doing your work, you will communicate with judges, administrators, analysts, coordinators, court staff, attorneys, law office staff, and other users of interpreting services.
Additionally, you will provide administrative support by writing, sending, and filing correspondence, retrieving records, and conducting research. You will refer prospective interpreters to certification and training resources, help with video and interpreting equipment, and proctor exams. You will also answer and route phone calls and answer routine questions about court interpreter assignments.
There will be opportunities to participate in professional development activities and training, as well as to provide mentoring and assistance to others. You will spend part of your time working on special projects and maintaining a desk manual.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
Your cover letter and work history/resume should demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications, the Special Qualifications, and the Requested Skills and Attributes, which are listed below.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in rejection of your application. All application materials will be evaluated for consistency of information, and your letter will be evaluated for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language use in addition to demonstrated experience.
The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. PT on the date listed above.
The qualified applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Three (3) years of experience in court operations or scheduling, social services, communications, or a closely related field.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
