The Maintenance Technician at UAMS Northwest Regional Campus plays a vital role in maintaining the campus's 12 facilities. This dual-role position combines outdoor landscaping responsibilities with technical maintenance duties to ensure a safe, functional, and visually appealing environment for patients, staff, students, and visitors. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the upkeep of landscaping and facility maintenance, contributing directly to the operational reliability of the campus.
This job posting is intended to fill several available positions.
High School diploma/GED.
Five (5) years of maintenance or landscaping experience.
Valid AR driver’s license with fewer than 12 points on the Motor Vehicle Record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, education, general liberal arts, or related field, plus three (3) years of project management or office coordination
Six (6) to ten (10) years of landscaping and grounds keeping experience with an additional five (5) years in a supervisory capacity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in landscaping and groundskeeping techniques.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Ability to operate and maintain landscaping and maintenance equipment.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Additional Information:
Collaborates with Program Director to ensure that the program meets or exceeds all accreditation requirements.
Management of ACGME Accreditation Data System (ADS), also known as WebADS, to include Resident Roster, ADS Annual Update, Milestone Evaluations, Resident and Faculty Surveys, and Case Log Reporting, if applicable.
Participates in the development and management of program’s improvement plans in response to ACGME Notification Letters/Citations/Areas for Improvement.
Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance
Perform all routine care of campus grass and ornamental grasses, including mowing, edging, trimming, seeding, and fertilizing.
Prepare, install, and maintain decorative landscaping across the campus, including planting and caring for flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants.
Oversee and adjust watering schedules for grass and plant beds to ensure healthy growth and appearance.
Monitor landscape health and apply pest/disease control solutions as needed.
Facility Systems Maintenance
Inspect, maintain, and repair building systems including boilers, air handlers, HVAC systems, and plumbing across 12 facilities.
Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and prolong system lifespan.
Respond to service calls, troubleshoot issues, and perform general repairs.
Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards and document all maintenance activities.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or facility improvement projects.
Safety and Documentation
Assist in clearing and maintaining roads, walkways, and parking areas during inclement weather to ensure safe access for all individuals.
Evaluate conditions of exterior surfaces and report or resolve any hazards.
Complete work order documentation in the Engineering and Operations Department's maintenance tracking system.
May perform other duties as assigned
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and institutional goals
