LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE GARDENER LEVEL 2 - RICHMOND

The Rubicon Maintenance Gardener - Level 2 works under the genenral supervision of the Maintenance Crew Leader, acting as a primary source of labor to perform various tasks related to the maintnenace of the landscaped grounds. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Rubicon uses E- Verify to validate the eligibility of our new employees to work legally in the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plant flowers, shrubs, ground covers and other plant materials; grade, seed, and fertilize.
  • Prune and shape shrubs, naturally and formally; stake and tie trees and shrubs.
  • Mow lawns, trim hedges and remove weeds, debris and other materials from job sites.
  • Manually water lawns, shrubs, ground covers and flowers; make irrigation adjustments.
  • Vehicles and equipment: Help clean and prepare vehicles for the next service day; inspect and maintain equipment (including lubricating as needed) before use to ensure proper usage operation; report problems to the Crew Leader or Supervisor.
  • General Safety: Report unsafe work conditions or practices to the Crew Leader and/or Supervisor immediately upon discovery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques and methods; ability to recognize the signs of plant stress; focus on working safely and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in the use and inspection of hand pruners and hedge shears; extended and non extended hedge trimmers, line trimmers, high weed mowers, leaf blowers and cultivators and of 21" and 36" lawn mowers.
  • Proficiency in the proper techniques and methods of pruning and shaping shrubs; staking and tying shrubs and trees; using and inspecting basic gas-powered and electric maintenance equipement; and in inspecting and maintaining, including lubricating, equipment used in the course of the landscape maintencance duties.
  • Teamwork, interpersonal flexibility, willingness and ability to receive and act on istructions from supervisors.
  • Customer service approach; can build trust, possesses integrity; embraces hard work.
  • Regular and reliable, on-time attendance.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bend and/or kneel up to 10% of the time.
  • Lift, reach, carry, push, pull: up to 50 pounds and up to 50% of the time.
  • Stand, walk up to 90% of the time.
  • Must be able to work outside during all seasons of the year.
  • This position requires the use of a work vehicle; therfore, proff of a valid and current CA driver license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required.
