Land Use Services- Administration Division is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Land Use Payroll Support Specialist* to join their team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple administrative responsibilities efficiently. This position plays a key role in supporting the Department's operations through documentation, data management, and collaborative team work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively through email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Prepare, format, and edit documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintain organized digital records and database.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks and contribute effectively in team environments.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, to support reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Research and interpret various county records/policies.

This position is recurrent, non-regular, limited duration position classified as a Public Service Employee. The successful candidate shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not retain regular status.

The Land Use Services Department is dedicated to ensuring a balance in the areas of housing, business, and recreational needs for the diverse cultures and communities of San Bernardino County. This is accomplished through comprehensive regional planning and enforcement of building standards, land uses, and environmental impacts.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, candidate must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.

Public Service Employee: This position is recurrent, non-regular, limited duration position classified as a Public Service Employee. The successful candidate shall be considered at-will throughout the term of their employment, and will not retain regular status.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States.

Examples of duties

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong research skills
  • Familiarity with Payroll terminology

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an administrative or support role.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Some experience in Payroll, Building and Safety or closely related field.
