Job Description

At Thomas & Hutton, you’ll work alongside experienced survey professionals collecting critical field data that supports engineering, design, and construction projects. What You'll Do:

  • Work as part of a two- to three-person survey crew assisting with a variety of land surveying activities
  • Assist with boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other field surveys
  • Operate and assist with survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors
  • Carry supplies, hold equipment, drive stakes, and assist with clearing survey lines as needed
  • Record field measurements and assist in maintaining accurate survey documentation
  • Maintain and transport survey equipment safely to and from job sites
  • Coordinate with the survey crew and project teams to complete assignments efficiently and accurately
  • What You Bring:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Prior experience working in an outdoor environment preferred
    • Previous land surveying experience preferred
    • Experience with Carlson SurvCE, robotic total stations, and Trimble GPS equipment a plus
    • Valid driver’s license required (this position requires driving)
    • Strong math skills and attention to detail
    • Written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong work ethic and willingness to work overtime when required

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and outdoor work environments
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time
    • Ability to climb hills and walk long distances across varied terrain
    • Ability to traverse wooded areas, construction sites, and undeveloped land
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
    • Ability to work in environments that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, and yellow jackets

      A regular schedule of Monday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., plus overtime as needed
