Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs lactation consultations to Humboldt Park Health patients, develops a plan of care that results in meeting the breastfeeding mother’s goals, and provides resources to the patients for follow-up are as needed.
  2. Communicates with physicians, staff and other key hospital personnel to assure continuity of advice, treatment and follow-up plans for patients.
  3. Provides quality education and ongoing evaluation of customer satisfaction for the Hospitals programs by direct hands on instruction in classes to patients.
  4. Assists patients in the use of breast pumps and any problems associated with the breast pumps. Helps other staff members in answering questions and assists patients with bra fittings, as needed.
  5. Maintains consistent quality, stays informed of innovative techniques, and recommends and implements changes as appropriate.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Adheres to downtime procedures.
  2. Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  3. Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Helath.
  4. Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Norwegian American Hospital.
  5. Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
  6. Checks hospital email daily.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
