THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture the Labour Relations Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support for labour relations functions, including maintaining grievance and arbitration records, ensuring accurate documentation of collective agreements and providing guidance on policies. The role also supports day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding and offboarding, maintaining HR documentation, preparing employee letters, reporting, internal communications, and departmental administration. The Coordinator also assists with HR systems, SharePoint updates, workplace investigations, projects, meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives to support efficient and consistent People & Culture operations across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the first point of contact for Labour Relations, providing timely, professional support, guidance on policies and procedures, and labour relations inquiries as needed.
  • Monitor and triage inquiries received through the People & Culture inbox, ensuring timely responses and appropriate escalation of issues.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, including supporting employee orientations, facilitating informational sessions for new hires, administering new hire and exit surveys, maintaining onboarding resources, and continuously improving onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Assist in Collective Bargaining including collecting information, attending negotiations and other union related tasks.
  • Support labour relations reporting, data tracking, and preparation of recurring reports for leadership and internal communications.
  • Prepare and process departmental administrative documentation, including employee letters and employment or status change documents, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely completion.
  • Maintain People & Culture materials, organizational charts, SharePoint content, job descriptions, HR documentation, and employee data accuracy on a regular basis.
  • Provide administrative support for workplace investigations, meetings, departmental communications, and People & Culture initiatives and projects.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of People & Culture systems, programs, and processes.
  • Act as backup support to the People & Culture Administrator and perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of Human Resources experience.
  • Experience with interpreting collective agreements, managing grievances and overall collective Bargagining.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline, or combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced computer skills, with competency in using intermediate/advanced features of Microsoft Office Suite and DayForce Ceridian.
  • CHRP or pursuing CHRP designation an asset.
  • Knowledge of employment and workplace legislation such as Human Rights, Health and Safety, Privacy, and ESA is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data and information in a useful and concise manner.
  • Outstanding customer-centric attitude, skills, and experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with internal and external stakeholders including staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Capable of exercising independent judgment, confidentiality, and flexibility
  • Experience in tracking and managing work permits and immigration related programs is an asset.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office.

About March of Dimes Canada

In 1949, desperate to find a cure and protect their children from polio, mothers across Canada joined in a North America-wide fundraising effort, going door to door in their own neighbourhoods to collect dimes.

The sheer scope of the campaign led entertainer Eddie Cantor to suggest the name "March of Dimes"​, based on the song "Brother can you spare a dime?"​ produced during the Great Depression.

By 1951 the Canadian Foundation for Poliomyelitis was established and granted use of the name "Ontario March of Dimes."​

In 1955, after the polio vaccine created by Dr. Jonas Salk proved effective in limited test trials, laboratories rushed to manufacture the vaccine, including Connaught Laboratories (now sanofi pasteur) in Toronto, Canada.

With the threat of polio greatly diminished, the March of Dimes in Canada began funding centres for people who had already contracted the disease, with early programs focused mostly on rehabilitation and job training.

By the early 1960s, the organization had grown in both size and mandate, shifting considerably to serve the broader needs of all adults with physical disabilities. In Ontario the legal name of the organization was changed to the Rehabilitation Foundation for the Disabled.

In 2006, Ontario March of Dimes registered the operating name of March of Dimes Canada. Today, March of Dimes is dedicated to helping children and adults across Canada to lead more independent lives.
