Job Description

Clover Flat Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Laborer / Scale House Attendant / Operator Trainee to join our team in Calistoga, CA! This is a full time, long term position with a reputable company.

The schedule will be 5 days per week, most likely including weekends. It will be an 8 hour shift between the hours of 5am and 5pm.

The pay rate for this position is $20-25/hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Litter picking
  • Spotting/directing trucks
  • Traffic management - moving signs and cones
  • Ensuring that all customers are wearing proper PPE
  • Cleaning Equipment
  • Training on heavy equipment operation and gas technician duties
  • Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the landfill.
  • Weighing trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.
  • Track weight information from scale to computer system and get appropriate signatures.
  • General site cleanup and landscaping
  • Performing other assigned duties at the landfill as needed

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Ability to safely climb on and off of heavy equipment in order to operate, clean and inspect.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of work experience. Preferably in a labor type position
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.
  • The ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Experience operating equipment is a plus
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions throughout entire shift
