Schedule: Full-time; open availability including weekends and holidays is required.

The Horseback Laborer supports daily operations of the Horseback Department through hands-on maintenance and facility upkeep. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and functional horse areas and trails, assisting with infrastructure and pasture maintenance, and supporting depot readiness. The laborer also assists with Palekana safety and emergency preparedness duties, as well as other departmental tasks as assigned. This is not a wrangler or riding position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility & Grounds Maintenance
• Maintain horseback depot and surrounding areas through routine cleaning, organizing, and landscaping.
• Assist with the upkeep of trails to ensure safe and accessible tour paths for guests and horses.
• Perform minor carpentry and maintenance repairs to fences, water lines, tack rooms, and other infrastructure.
• Support pasture care through weed control, mowing, and debris clearing.
• Operate basic landscaping and power tools, including weed whackers and blowers.
Daily Operational Support
• Assist horseback team with daily chores including organizing supplies, cleaning tools, and preparing areas for tours.
• Refill water troughs, clean feeding stations, and monitor depot cleanliness.
• Provide support for departmental setup and breakdown of equipment or supplies as needed.
Palekana & Departmental Support
• Assist with Palekana duties related to safety, risk mitigation, and emergency procedures.
• Participate in cross-functional assignments and special projects within the Horseback Department.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding task progress, safety concerns, or supply needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience performing outdoor or labor-intensive work.
• Proficiency in using basic landscaping tools and small equipment (e.g. weed whacker, blower, hand tools).
• Basic carpentry or maintenance skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid Hawai‘i driver’s license and a clean driving abstract that meets company requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with trail maintenance, pasture work, or ranch operations.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to outdoor labor and small machinery.
• Experience supporting animal-related operations or ag-based departments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. consistently.
• Ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions including sun, rain, and humidity.
• Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, and use hand and power tools for extended periods.
• Requires physical stamina for performing manual labor on trails, pastures, and uneven terrain.
