Utilities & Public Works
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled labor for operations of the Utilities Public/Works Department and Parks and Recreation. Work involves litter pickup, general landscape duties, operating light machinery and using hand tools, etc. Employee must exercise some independent judgment and initiative in ensuring proper completion of assigned tasks.
Personnel occupying this position may be scheduled to work irrespective of weather conditions and/or when general County offices are closed. Applicants must be available to work Sunday through Saturday as needed.
Utilities & Public Works
•Performs trash and debris pickup at various locations on uneven ground.
•Assists in the collection, screening, and processing of latex paint for landfill operations.
•Performs various general landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, raking leaves, etc., using power lawn mowers, string trimmers and various hand tools.
•Cleans equipment and vehicles as required.
•De-rims and stacks of tires.
•Drains fluids from small equipment (lawnmowers).
•Assists as semi-skilled labor in general painting, carpentry and other trade work.
•Performs building and grounds maintenance work;
•Performs other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.
Employee must be able to read and communicate verbally.
Employee in this position is required to wear safety shoes and uniform provided by the County.
Pre-employment drug test will be required (Utilities and Public Works only).
May be required to work weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.
