                This position provides physical labor toward the maintenance of the cranes; position may also assist with the power shop area, warehouse, or towards the execution of daily yard operations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools such as pressure washers, screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers.
  • Basic English communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
  • Possess organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions, and make sound decisions.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
Preferred 
  • One (1) year of experience operating a forklift at OSHA standards.
 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary
  • Wash and clean all company mobile harbour cranes.
  • Prepare cranes for painting and paints crane parts.
  • Maintain the crane supplies inventory on each crane stocked and organized.
  • Assist with the crane’s preventative maintenance.
  • Perform general maintenance work of the Power Shop area inside and outside.
  • Wash heavy equipment when necessary and serve as backup to the Power Shop Laborer.
Secondary 
  • Sweep and wash empty containers.
  • May assist with the transfer of cargo from one container to another.
  • May rearrange cargo inside a produce load to have it fumigated.
  • Assist with the agriculture inspections.
  • Maintain awareness of all surroundings (i.e., trucks, people, etc.) at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable.
  • The employee is continuously required to stand, walk, reach forward and grasp.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, bend forward, squat, repetitive wrist motion, finger dexterity and exercise eye-hand coordination.
  • The employee is frequently required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, crawl, pinch, exercise repetitive foot motion, and reach overhead.
  • The employee must frequently lift, carry, push and pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Report safety hazards.
  • Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Refuse any unsafe task or operation.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Be constantly aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers.
 SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Reports directly to the Power Mechanic’s Assistant Manager and Manager. May receive indirect supervision from the Mechanics’ Foreman and Lead Mechanic – Cranes. Does not exercise supervision over any position.  CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Moderate vibration with use of hydraulic seating system.
