Join Our Team as a Laboratory Technician at VESH – West Springfield, MA!

Schedule:

• Four 9-hour shifts: 9am-6pm, including one weekend shift.

Compensation:

• $20 - $25/hour based on knowledge and experience
• Shift Differential where applicable

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Responsible for processing all in-house and send-out laboratory tests including:
  • Process all IDEXX reference laboratory requests
  • Accurately process all in-house lab tests:
    • CBC/Chemistry
    • PCV/TS
    • SNAP Test
    • Urinalysis
    • Leptospirosis test
    • I-Stat
    • Blood Typing
    • Crossmatch
    • Manual Differential
    • Cytology (ear)
    • Etc.
  • Accurately process all ancillary lab tests to outside labs:
    • Michigan State University
    • Colorado State University
    • Etc.

• Ensure all sample submittal paperwork is completed accurately
• Ensure all samples are packaged appropriately
• Ensure proper samples (serum, plasma, etc.) are included for each requisition
• Ensure all charges are invoiced appropriately and under the correct provider
• Maintain lab supplies, ordering supplies as needed through IDEXX (tubes, culturettes, etc)
• Process quality control

Qualifications:

• Previous veterinary lab experience required
• CVT certification (or eligibility) preferred, but not required
• Fluent English (written and spoken) required
• Rabies vaccination preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to the profession (e.g., continuing education, conference attendance, professional memberships)
• Ability to attend mandatory monthly staff meetings

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
• Ability to sit, stand, kneel, reach, grasp, hear, and see throughout your shift
