The Opportunity

The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for managing and operating the laboratory at the CEmONC Centre or Field Hospital, ensuring high-quality and timely diagnostic support to clinical services. The post holder will oversee laboratory testing, maintain quality assurance, supervise the laboratory assistant, ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) compliance, and maintain accurate records and reporting systems. The position plays a critical role in supporting safe delivery, emergency obstetric, neonatal, and general patient care through reliable laboratory diagnostics in alignment with national and organizational guidelines. The Laboratory Technologist will work closely with the field hospital nurses and physicians, report directly to the Senior Officer- Laboratory and assume responsibility for the clinical laboratory activities of the response, under the guidance of the Senior Officer- laboratory. They rigorously adhere to standardized procedures and regulations, which include conducting quality control, calibrating equipment, and keeping detailed records

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in Laboratory Operations and Blood Transfusion System.
  • Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory), B.Sc. in Health Technology (Laboratory) or Similar discipline with valid registration under State Medical Faculty in Bangladesh
  • Experience with blood bank management and point of care testing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team, under pressure and in a sensitive environment
  • Some experience in or understanding of the health sector
  • Ability to work under extreme circumstances, including under stress, high security risks and harsh living conditions. Works and lives with a flexible, adaptable and resilient manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, particularly the ability to work and interact with clinical staff, and beneficiaries
