The Lab Technician collects specimens by venipuncture, skin puncture or other special collection technique; receives specimens (accessions) into LIS and performs pre-analytic processing of specimens.

Education: Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED High school diploma or GED required and Formal Phlebotomy training program /externship.
Years of Experience: Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
Required Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of specimen requirements preferred; prefer familiarity with laboratory terminology, laboratory expected turnaround times; ability to read and comprehend written information required; keyboarding skills preferred; ability to effectively and efficiently perform a variety of job duties in a stressful, fast paced environment is required. Ability to provide effective customer service in accordance with hospital RITE values.
Licenses and Certifications Phlebotomy certification preferred.
