As a Laboratory Technician on this team, you will review consultations from other labs, evaluate paperwork foridentifiersand complete data entry tasks. You will coordinate with leadership, supervisors,Pathologistsand other lab reps to direct workflow and organize daily departmental functioning. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best Pathologists in the field within an innovative, constantly evolving healthcare enterprise.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform advanced manual processing and problem-solving techniques in laboratoryaccessioningdata entry, probleminvestigationsand resolution.
Be involved in creating slides and/or duties associated with thesubspecialtyclient liaison.
Be familiar with data analytics.
Receive andaccessionspecimens into the LIS.
Conduct higher levelaccessioningin the LIS including esoteric testing.
Conduct advanced tracking investigations.
Serve as a subspecialty client liaison.
Be responsible foradvanced problem solving/issue resolution (pendinglog/SERS/block QA).
The following duties are specific to Anatomic Pathology: perform tasks involved with creating slides and/or cell blocks, perform frozen section processing (frozen section slide creation), create cell block slides, clinical histology tissue embedding, andassistin cytology adequacy assessments.
Prepare specimens for analysis.
Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
Run and resolve LIS logs.
Retrieve, sort,trackand deliver specimens.
Perform logistic activities within and outside oflab
Use tracking software/devices.
Comply withsafety,SOP& regulations
Maintainappropriate documentation
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associate degree (preferably in science)
Two years of lab processing experience
Four years of lab technician or comparable processing experience may substitute the education requirement
Active enrollment in the Cleveland Clinic MLS program may substitute the education and experience requirement
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry,physicsor medical laboratory scienceThis may substitute the experience requirement
Prior laboratory experience(academic or professional)
Research experiencegained through coursework, independent projectsor internships
