Job Description

In this position, you will contribute to the development of technologies for a more sustainable future. At DTU Chemical Engineering, we work on innovative solutions that support the green transition, with a particular focus on CO₂ capture and utilization.

As a laboratory technician, you will play an important role in supporting research activities in our laboratories. Your responsibilities will include performing routine laboratory measurements, preparing experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring that the laboratory remains a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.

Our research focuses on developing and testing innovative technologies that can significantly reduce the energy consumption of CO2 capture and enable effective utilization and storage of captured CO2. You will become part of an experienced and collaborative research team where your technical expertise and attention to detail will help ensure high-quality experimental work and reliable research results.

At DTU Chemical Engineering we are looking for a detail-oriented laboratory technician to perform routine measurements and help ensure that our state-of-the-art laboratory continues to create value. You will assist students in setting up and conducting experiments, as well as carry out laboratory measurements such as high-pressure experiments. The projects focus on topics such as CO2 capture, CO2 utilization and storage meaning that the right candidate will play an important role in the green transition.

You will be an important contributor to the research activities at DTU Chemical Engineering. Our well-equipped laboratories are used daily by PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and students, and we are looking for someone who can help ensure that they remain safe, efficient, and well organized.

You will perform routine laboratory measurements, support experimental work, and assist researchers and students with laboratory activities. In addition, you will help maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, prepare experimental setups, and contribute to the continuous development of laboratory methods and facilities. We are looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, is curious, and is not afraid to explore new techniques or help develop new experimental setups.

Many of our research activities involve high-pressure equipment and gas handling systems. Experience working with high-pressure systems and familiarity with Swagelok fittings and tubing are therefore considered strong advantages. Since safety is a top priority, you will also contribute to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and participate in the institute's safety activities.

Primary responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of experimental methods and laboratory procedures
  • Participate in the institute's safety activities and promote good laboratory practices
  • Procurement
  • Gas responsibility
  • Chemical waste handling
  • Help with experimental courses

Our expectations of you

  • Relevant educational background e.g. laboratory technician or have equivalent relevant technical experience
  • You enjoy practical, hands-on work and are not afraid to take on new challenges or learn new techniques
  • We will educate you in high-pressure systems and gas handling
  • We will develop your skills with Swagelok fittings, tubing, and instrumentation
  • You are comfortable troubleshooting laboratory equipment and experimental setups
  • You work independently while also enjoying collaboration with researchers, students, and colleagues
  • You are structured, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • You have a strong focus on laboratory safety and good laboratory practices
  • You have good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
