Wood is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician Chemist to be based in Longford on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Laboratory Technician Chemist will be responsible for providing critical testing and analysis for gas, crude oil, and petroleum products to ensure compliance with strict industry standards.

  • Develop knowledge of quality assurance based established testing
  • Sampling and testing of process fluids and environmental samples
  • Dispatch of samples for external testing
  • Stock control and ordering laboratory consumables
  • Training operators in laboratory tests
  • Calibration and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation
  • General laboratory maintenance
  • Ad-hock sampling and testing
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or a closely related subject
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Achievement oriented and results focused
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of chemistry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good math skills and the ability to perform calculations
  • Familiarity with lab safety standards and handling of hazardous materials
  • Proven ability to manage sampling and testing
  • Ability to work continuously in details and maintain accuracy
  • Strong personal HSE focus and commitment
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry technical diploma with piping design specific training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience desired but not essential.
