Laboratory Technician - Chattanooga, TN
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

ADM’s Southern Cellulose Products plant in Chattanooga, TN is a cotton linter pulp mill providing cellulose paper products to clients in the global industrial, food, pharmaceutical, and high end paper markets. The Company is actively seeking a Quality Control Lab technician for our Quality Control Laboratory.

The QC Lab technician will be responsible for conducting product testing and analyses on cellulose products. The QC Lab technician is responsible for safeguarding product safety and quality while meeting the Plant and regulatory standards, and has the oversight responsibility for a continuous quality improvement program that includes quality control and quality assurance. The QC Lab technician is responsible for ensuring the production and distribution of products meets or exceeds all quality standards. The QC Lab technician also has the responsibility for communicating quality results and the transfer of quality knowledge to the team.
The successful candidate must have the flexibility/willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. This is a 12 hour (7pm-7am) shift with 24/7 coverage. Attendance and punctuality is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all required lab tests (viscosity, brightness, dirt, moisture, fiber etc.) by adhering to documented laboratory procedures.
  • Accurately collect, record, and report test data while ensuring the integrity of the data.
  • Must be able to analyze information quickly to provide feedback in the lab and troubleshoot with operations team.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and work in a variety of conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.).
  • Collaborate with teammates and management in an effective and precise manner.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Multitask efficiently in a high pace work environment.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the laboratory environment.
  • Focus on safety, quality, and integrity.

Requirements:

  • Preferred laboratory experience and/or a 2 year degree is desirable.
  • A good understanding of basic chemistry, biology, physical principles, and process control a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and math skills.
  • Skill in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Capable of comprehending and executing SOPs.
  • Accountability and dependability.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong record keeping and computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to work safely in an environment with potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Integrity.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$32,500.00 - $59,000.00
