ROLE SUMMARY:

The Science Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, practical science education across the Senior School. This professional ensures that the school's state-of-the-art laboratories are safe, well-stocked, and fully prepared for practical lessons, experiments, and internal assessments related to the Pearson iGCSE, Cambridge A Levels and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and set up all equipment, chemical solutions, and materials required for practical Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
• Dismantle, clean, and store apparatus and laboratory glassware safely after experiments are completed.
• Maintain laboratory safety by enforcing local protocols, managing hazardous waste, and performing routine checks on safety equipment.
• Manage stock and inventory of chemicals, consumables, and hardware, including ordering and registering new supplies.
• Maintain technical documentation including chemical logs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and risk assessment records.
• Support practical exams and coursework for international curricula like IGCSE, A Levels, and the IB Diploma.
• Assist teachers and students during practical sessions with the correct use of scientific tools and data-logging technology.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments to ensure they are always ready for use.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Academic Background: Degree or professional certification in Chemistry, Biology, Laboratory Technology, or a related scientific field.
• Experience: Previous experience working in a school laboratory context is highly preferred, ideally within an international school setting.
• Languages: Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is essential, as the curriculum is delivered in English from Grade 5 onwards.
• Technical Skills: High proficiency in handling scientific equipment and familiarity with digital learning platforms or data-loggers.
• Soft Skills: Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, strict attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a genuine commitment to student welfare and safeguarding.
