Laboratory Support Technician/Phlebotomist Elyria Part-Time - (2600080C)

Description

Performs specimen procurement and/or processing of laboratory specimens. Provides laboratory support functions. This position is part of an established career ladder. Appropriate title and pay will be assigned based on Education and ExperienceOrganizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and/or phlebotomyProcesses specimens for laboratory testingCompetent in the collection or processing of specialized samples.Performs with minimal error rate.Acts as a trainer and is a resource to other Specimen Processor Phlebotomists.Needs minimal supervision and problems solves with little or no supervision.Performs other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.Part time 20 hours per week. Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays.This is the evening shift that will start at 2:30 PM or 3:00 PM.Location is Elyria Medical Center.Inpatient population. Sign-on Bonus: This position is eligible for a $1000 sign-on bonus to eligible candidates. Eligible candidates must be newly hired to UH.University Hospitals is offering a $1,000 sign on bonus, minus applicable taxes, for designated regular Phlebotomy positions.Internal Applicants are not eligible for the sign on bonus.

Qualifications

High School Equivalent / GED required andOther Accredited Program: Formal Training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program preferred.1+ years phlebotomy experience required or1+ years specimen processing experience required orless than 1 year Funding Healthcare Futures Program Participant (entry level) (required.Initiatives and maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, co-workers.Takes responsibility for self-development.Working knowledge of pre-analytic laboratory and safety policies and procedures.Displays initiative to perform job duties.Ability to work in fast paced environment.Ability to multi-taskAbility to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.Competent on venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick for all ages.Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Phlebotomy Certification Preferred Upon Hire.Physical Demands
