Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled R&D Laboratory Supervisor to support the operation and continuous improvement of our Research & Development Laboratory. This role will coordinate laboratory testing activities, support new product development initiatives, and provide technical expertise across the organization.
The successful candidate will act as a senior technical resource and supervisor for the R&D Laboratory, supporting internal testing programs, third-party laboratory testing, product investigations, and process improvement initiatives. This role also provides day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and technical support to R&D Lab Technicians and R&D Design Coordinators while collaborating closely with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other internal stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Support
• Coordinate assigned R&D laboratory activities and testing schedules to support business and project requirements.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, technical direction, and mentorship to R&D Lab Technicians and Coordinators.
• Support management in developing laboratory capabilities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with workload planning, prioritization, and resource coordination within the laboratory.
• Support employee training, development, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Act as a technical resource for internal stakeholders and junior team members.
• Monitor and report on laboratory performance metrics and testing activities.
Testing & Technical Responsibilities
• Coordinate and execute in-house product performance testing for new and existing products.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and validating new testing procedures and methodologies.
• Support Product Development initiatives through testing, evaluation, and technical analysis.
• Coordinate third-party laboratory testing activities and attend testing sessions as required.
• Provide technical support regarding product performance, testing standards, and investigation findings.
• Support root cause investigations related to product, fabrication, quality, and field performance issues.
• Assist Building Envelope and Engineering teams with field testing and product investigations.
• Support projects that improve testing capabilities, systems, processes, and technologies.
Experience
• 10+ years of experience within the window, curtain wall, building envelope, or related industry.
• Extensive experience with product performance testing and applicable industry standards.
• Prior experience providing technical leadership, mentoring team members, or supervising small technical teams.
• Experience coordinating laboratory testing or product validation activities.
• Experience working with third-party testing agencies and certification bodies is an asset.
• Experience acting as a technical resource for internal and external stakeholders.
Compensation: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually
